The newly opened Wattanapat Samui Hospital aims to enhancemedical and wellness tourism on Koh Samui.
A popular holiday island in Thailand. With the opening ofthis hospital, Koh Samui now has a total of five medical facilities. Thehospital is equipped with 380 beds, specialized staff, and modern equipment,which is expected to increase confidence in Koh Samui as a wellnessdestination.
The hospital was inaugurated by Dr Somchai Chansawang, CEOof Wattanapat Hospital Trang Plc, along with the provincial Governor WichawutJinto and other senior officials. Governor Wichawut highlighted the province'stourism goal of transforming Koh Samui into a wellness destination. Heexpressed that the new hospital will play a vital role in building trust andattracting more foreign tourists to the neighboring islands of Koh Samui, KohPha Ngan, and Koh Tao.
Governor Wichawut emphasized that Koh Samui not only offershigh-quality tourism experiences and beautiful natural attractions but alsoplaces importance on wellness and health activities. With the increasing globaltrend of wellness tourism, the governor sees the new hospital as a significantopportunity for the three popular tourist islands to tap into this growingmarket.
Many tourists prioritize their health, safety, andwell-being when choosing travel destinations, and the opening of the WattanapatSamui Hospital caters to those needs. Last year, the three islands saw touristarrivals surpass one million visitors, triple the number during the pandemicperiod. This year, the islands anticipate double or triple the number ofvisitors, potentially reaching up to three million travelers.
Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan, and Koh Tao already offer a rangeof health resorts, spas, health restaurants, weight loss centers, beauty andanti-aging facilities, and other wellness services. The islands also haveabundant resources for preventive, traditional Thai, and alternative medicine.With the addition of the Wattanapat Samui Hospital, Koh Samui is nowwell-positioned to meet the demands of wellness-oriented tourists.
